50 Fake Graduates Handed Over by NYSC To Police – NYSC updates
Over 50 Fake Graduates has been Handed Over to the Nigerian police by the National Youth Service Corps NYSC. The fake graduate tried to register for the NYSC Batch B Stream programme. It was discovered that they deployed forged certificates at the various NYSC orientation camps and when verified, they were not identified as bonified students or graduates of their proposed schools.
The National Youth Service Corps had comfirmed to this news that about 50 fake corps members were handed over to the Nigerian Police force for further investigation and persecution.
The NYSC asserted that the NYSC verification exercise was ongoing in all the accredited 37 orientation camps within Nigeria. The authorities of the scheme warns that candidates who present forged certificate will not just be handed over to the police but also ensured to be persecuted.
After this report went viral on monday. Verification process was intensified and as a result no fewer than 25 prospective NYSC members were cought and handed over to the police.
Also, when Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, who is the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, was approached as regards this matter on Friday, she confirmed that about 50 fake graduates had been recently arrested at different orientation camps nationally and duely handed over to the police.
Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, in a press briefing , stressed that Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, who is the NYSC Director-General had earlier warned that prospective corp members that aren’t qualified would no longer be allowed to pass through the NYSC scheme.
She said, “The NYSC is committed to stemming the tide of fraudulent mobilisation of unqualified home-based and foreign-trained Nigerians, especially those purported to have graduated from unaccredited universities in the West African sub-region. see also: Stranded Corps Members Seize Airline’s Laptops After Cancelled Flight (Video)
“The verification of credentials of all corps members currently in the 37 orientation camps across the country is still ongoing. As of date, over 50 unqualified graduates from different institutions of higher learning have been decamped from the 2019 Batch B Stream II NYSC Orientation Camps and handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution
Also in Taraba State, the NYSC caught six fake corps members; three of the suspects were identified as Nasiru Yau, Shehu Mukhtar and Illiyasu Usman. They all claimed to have finished from the Isfop University of Cotonou in the Republic of Benin.
